FIGHT: I will tell you what FIGHT means to me in my journey. This week, and the last one is the letter T and what it stands for.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV

Since I was young, I heard the word, ‘Time and Tide waits for no man’ by Geoffrey Chaucer. It is the one thing we all have in common yet some of us never seem to have enough of it. It is also hard to explain:

In an article in ThoughtCO By Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D. –  Physicists define time as the progression of events from the past to the present into the future. Basically, if a system is unchanging, it is timeless. Time can be considered to be the fourth dimension of reality, used to describe events in three-dimensional space.

The T in my FIGHT means Time.

Time is only going in one direction and irreversible. Whatever happens in the past can not be changed but we can change our future.

Past mistakes are past and it’s something you learn from going forward or we stay in the past and let it define us. The choice is always ours, but I choose to not let my past define what I do in the future, but I reflect on it and see what I can do to make my future brighter. Is this perfect? No of course not but then wasting my energy thinking about it is not productive and a waste of time that I will never get back. Easier said than done, it takes lots of practice and the strength from our Lord Jesus to sustain it.

What does the bible say about time?

Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ. Wake up from your sleep, Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light! So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Ephesians 5:11‭-‬16 MSG

Time should never be wasted, as the years have taught me one of the ways I wasted my time was my smart phone, not only is it a distraction but also wastes our time. I am not going to say I don’t like my phone, that will be a lie. I spend money getting the latest phone,  it is a very useful tool to have. It is a tool that should not control me, like everyone else. As soon as I open the phone all the notifications come on and I get distracted from what I was actually going to do.

One day, I took an action and turned off all notifications and it was amazing that my phone battery lasted  two days and this gave me time to evaluate what was important to me to give me notification. I am not a doctor that is on call and someone will die if I don’t look at my phone.

I had choices and lots of time that I never knew I had. What are my priorities and what is important in my life?  So the journey to use my time started and that leads to me having a diary for the most important things in life that God has gifted me with, using my gift wisely and effectively by making an impact on the people around me.

In my quest for time management, I saw the importance of planning. When we live intentionally and plan around our priorities, we will find chaos recedes and productivity increases.  Looking at the things in life that absolutely must be done are worth putting into a schedule. If I find myself procrastinating over a work, then I will drop it because it obviously is not important.

Sometimes with all good intentions, the best way to manage my time is saying no. This goes to understanding what is my purpose in life and what God has called me to do. Busyness is not only a distraction from our purpose in life but it also is stressful. So which leads to my favorite thing that I have to get used to is rest.

It is necessary that I rest always and take a breather in life, my mind, body and soul needs that break. When I rest I find I am more productive the next day but too much of it is no good.

Rest is part of life and not optional, if God did it so should I.

Sometimes it takes illness to make me rest, so no I am not perfect at resting, but I am getting there.

As this is the last of this series, I want to share the act of Grace on yourself and sometimes things happen that are out of your control and it is good to take a break from normal routine. It is so liberating, be happy and don’t stress when it doesn’t go your way.  Spend time with God, worship Him only.

So be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil times. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes. Ephesians 5:15‭-‬16 TPT

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this. Have a wonderful day and stay blessed.
