Thank You God for everthing and making it possible to see another day.
And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to Love mercy and to walk humbly with God. Micah 6:8c NIV
~ Helen Keller
No one is perfect and never see yourself as better, above, or more important than other people. A proud person overestimates their own importance. They cannot laugh at themselves. ‘Don’t take yourself too seriously – take God seriously’. We cannot do any of this unless we are walking in a relationship with the Lord.
To focus on experience we need to be committed to our journey and look forward:
According to dictionary: Committed is denoting a long term emotional relationship, being dedicated, pledge to yourself. Without commitment you will most likely fail in the journey.
Whatever we use our brain for, we get better at it!
Example if you use your brain to gossip, you will get better at it, so I want you to focus on the positive and get better at it. Use the brain to speak life into yourself and people around you. The more you do something positive the more you get better at it.
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. ~ Helen Keller
Every skill that we learn on the way will always have an impact on our life and it is very important to always take a step back and think about what skills you have obtained.
Here are some examples of past experience that lead me to my journey of healthy eating and crazy workout: Look at it and apply your skills to your everyday journey.
Determination, perseverance and resolve: It’s worth it to stress how important these things are and it is very easy for me to give up on something when it doesn’t quite go to plan. It is perfectly okay to struggle with some things more than others, but it is not okay to completely ignore the more challenging tasks.
Nothing is a walk in the park, going for an interview or getting up in the morning to work out is not easy. With interviews, I was determined to give my 100% or more and then it is up to God to give me favour in the eyes of the interviewer. I had to prepare for it, and also spoke to others within the team I was looking for a position to get know what it is they do and expected of me. Another thing to note is that I had help from others to coach me and looked over my CV. It is important to know when to ask for help and prayers in life for they are important
The only reason I got the job was because of God and giving me the strength to ask for help and putting a lot of hours into my work. I am always held accountable for my work which gave me lots of examples to work with.
Determination is a skill that everyone needs, for school, work and even day to day life. Without it nothing would ever get done. So in terms of everyday, we all have that drive, mine is cooking every weekend to make sure I have the right amount of food for the week both lunch and dinner and also avoid unnecessary takeaway or grabbing a bite to eat.
So when the task is hard, search for your inner self and get down to business. For faith without works is dead. I believe that I have to play my part as well, working the hours needed and helping out but also knowing when to stop and take a break is also good.
Learn from mistakes. Here is the thing, there is always a way out of everything. How do we know? In 1 Corinthians 10:13, the Apostle Paul tells us God is faithful—He will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. But when we are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that we can endure it. So let’s investigate, make changes, rely on God, ask people for help, and keep taking the next step as He guides us forward.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 NIV
Everyone makes mistakes. It is a fact of life. So why do we get so caught up in regret and embarrassment when we make one? I know I certainly do. One of the most important things I’ve learned over the years is that it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them.
In the content of eating healthy and exercise, look at past experience and how it worked previously and what you can learn from it. If it didn’t work, then speak to someone to help and see what they say. Otherwise it will be the same mistake again.
One of the things that I have learned is going for walks at least 20 mins has helped me clear my head and enjoy the scenery and just leaving the house and in a different place makes such an impact on my mood. Whatever helps is better than thinking and not doing anything. For me doing little walks daily works better.
It is a very small, simple and also very effective way to be committed to the journey and the more I do it, it is now a routine I just get out and walk at the same time. The brain is now adapted to it don’t even need to think of it.
Lastly to stay motivated you need to know why you are doing anything.
Find your why?
My reasons became clear when I thought hard about it:
Why do I exercise?
First the benefits: Helps control my weight.
Second, it improves my mental and mood in the morning.
Thirdly I have to play my own part. What does that mean? To me this is very important, my body is a temple that God has given to me and the least I can do is take care of it. I try to eat healthy, exercise and lastly and very important sleeping on time daily to get enough rest. The body needs to sleep and while we are sleeping the brain is still working and cleaning everything. Once a week I set a day to rest. I mean pure rest, meeting friends, chilling, watching movies and that is not optional to me.
I am not going to lie and say I do that everyday, of course not but I try and by the Grace of God through our Lord Jesus Christ I am getting the hang of not getting too busy to not have a sabbath day of rest. Whenever I do take that time to have it as sabbath I find the week ahead very productive.
On another experience that I learned about food: It will never be an answer to any negative problem I was facing. It just adds another layer to the problem and makes me miserable.
When I started I kept a food diary and for some reason that actually made me think before buying foods in the market. The diary kept me wanting to add healthy options to the list and now it has become a lifestyle. It takes time but totally worth it.
How you are feeling on the inside daily matters so much, it takes time and also give yourself Grace. Always remember that God is working in us given us the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (Phillipans 2:13)
Thanks so much for taking the time to read.
