Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid. '
Proverbs 12:1
Hello and welcome. Hope the month of January was good to you, to me I am glad I have Jesus. When the New Year started, it was a new start, new beginning and getting all excited about the New Year. Having that drive to change and get into new habits, don’t know about you but yes that is me. I never used to like change, but I had to get used to it ….because I work for a company that changes things around and you know what the world is like, things are always changing and if I need to be in the present I need to change and I need to adapt to the now. No one likes change but it has to happen, the computer has changed and that is because as people we adapt so well and find ways to change to fit our environment and comfort.
Where is this going? Good question, come with me to the vault and let us see what we can find in the treasures. First I want to say thank you for entertaining me by reading my blog, may God guide your footsteps and bring Joy to your heart, in Christ Jesus. Amen.
‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ‘ Proverbs 1:7
Yes the vault is full of treasures, let’s see what we can find. Oh look, yes I think this is a good one. We all need it and it is part of our overall well-being and let us unpack it as she smiles. Psst, not so fast, now I want to say something before you carry on, this is only information and it is way better to speak to the professional you trust and can give you the advice you need. I used to be one of those professionals and from experience I can say that talking to people is better than running it your head with no solution. So knowledge is not power unless you use it because poverty and shame comes to those who disdains correction but he who regards a rebuke will be honoured says the wisest man Solomon. And now what was I looking at, oh yeah let have a look..
Financial well-being: Is one piece in the overall spectrum of well-being and when it is jeopardised you may feel it in other areas.
Money is NOT evil ONLY the LOVE of it is.
As anything in life, our scales are always lopsided. What do I mean? We spend too much or too little and no balance. Our scales need to balance, too much of anything leads to destruction. Eating too much or exercising too much all have consequences and the same when it is too little.
How do you find the balance? Good question. My opinion, I am still learning about it but that is the fun. The trials and errors. Now is the time to try, for when we die that is it and to be honest you do not want to wait until the end with regrets and what if’s.
Financial well-being is about feeling secure and in control of your day to day finances. Having enough money to pay for bills, with a plan to deal with the unexpected costs.
As with anything financial well being is part of our lives and getting into a good habit will be better for it.
What can you do? So many questions, will come to mind but:
An answer can only be found with questions and shining some light to it: So
Talk to someone, be your spouse, friend, family member, financial adviser or the bank (after all they see all your finances). It is so freeing when it comes out in the open, because a solution can be found. Anything in the dark always seems bigger than it is and also we need to shed lights to it in order to find the solution.
“A puzzle can not be solved in the dark”
The next one: Make a plan, yes I said it
One simple step at a time, by making a plan can be a weight off the shoulder. Having a plan is a way to help plan for your financial future more effectively. The paradox, no one knows what tomorrow brings but you don’t want to spend all of it today and be the fool tomorrow.
It is also good for your mental health. Research has shown that financial well-being can have a positive effect on both physical and mental health.
What happens when things go wrong? Because they do..
POOR financial well-being can be overcome:
By been intentional about everything:
Living within the means and spending wisely – get a budget planner.
Saving: for anyone who spends a lot is like building a house on the sand when the wind comes it blows it away. Savings starts with as little as a pound and grows. For a house is not built in a day, but the foundation has to start strong as a house built on a rock. So when time comes, the wind blows, the rain comes but the foundation is still there.
Honour the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase
Good financial well-being comes with the benefits of:
a happier lifestyle, more confident, more productive both at work and personal life
And also ‘Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. ‘ Proverbs 4:23
And never give up because no one is perfect and you can only practice to get progress. Progression leads to a good routine therefore find your routine.
Don’t compare with others, the grass is not always green on the other side. Comparison is what leads to spending unnecessary and it is better to have little than more with trouble. Debit is trouble, avoid it at all cost. But the fear of the LORD is a great treasure.
So my dear friends, I leave with this.
Vanity of vanities, all is vanity
Why trouble yourself with the cares of this world
For naked we came and naked we will return
But the wise will walk with the Lord
And the foolish will think that tomorrow never comes
So don’t be wise in your own eyes
Enjoy the pleasures of your fruits
For no one knows what tomorrow brings
